- Desperate? There is a minimum 2 year waiting list just to get in the nursing program at the local comm college here.

There would not be a nursing shortage if the companies that hire us would treat us correctly and not work us like mules. The problem is like most companies is the profit that the company can put in there pocket. Most of the companies are cutting back on health insurance having you take on more work, work longer, giving you less vacation or time you can take off, and treat you as if you are expendable. So I say why should we be committed to staying in nursing. The idea of bringing people from overseas to fill the positions will just create a mess in which law suits will flood the market with all the in experience. Should be interesting to see.
